Ballet

Ballet: Improves a student's sense of grace and poise while learning the discipline of dance - barre and center floor exercises.

Pointe: An extended and highly technical form of ballet for female dancers taught solely upon the recommendation of the pointe instructor.

Contemporary/Modern: Contemporary dance combines several styles of movements including ballet, concert jazz, ethnic and modern dance methods. The movement combinations focus more on the choreographic flow and pattern rather than adhering to one particular style. Students are guided through an extensive warm-up based on the foundations of ballet technique and modern methods and then are given several across the floor exercises to explore the freedom of movement in various dance styles. Focus points include the "contract and release" of the torso, the use of the whole body in movement, musicality and the exploration of movement.
Requirements - Two years of ballet training and a previous or current jazz class.

Ballet/Tap: Introduces young dancers to the structure of a dance class and establishes the love of dance through different exercises and teaching mediums. Students learn basic ballet and tap steps that are integrated into the class as fun exercises. Students are having fun while learning basic ballet and tap terminology at the same time.


Cheerdance

Cheerdance: Helps develop strength, flexibility, and coordination. Learn high-energy combinations that improve and enhance the dance skills of a cheerleader.


Gymnastics

Gymnastics: The use of movement and tricks gives the student a balanced combination of strength, flexibility, and controlled movement.


Hip Hop

Hip Hop: Learn the millennium's version of street dance - a less technical derivation of jazz dancing that is performed to today's most popular music.


Jazz

Jazz: A highly energetic and exciting dance form achieves its effects teaching coordinated movements of the upper and lower body.
Recommendation: One ballet class weekly.


Stretch & Strengthening

Stretch & Strengthening

Stretch & Strengthening: A stretch and strenghening class is a low stress and highly rewarding form of exercise that a great new way to burn calories, tone the body and boost self image. These classes offer a student with little to no experience an opportunity ro reap the benefits of a dance class with low impact movements based in ballet technique. Combined with the core strenghening exercises of a ballet floor barre and various stretch techniques, the student will be guided through mat exercises aimed at creating long, lean and toned muscles while focusing on an individual's flexibility through a series of moderate to intense stretches. Physical benefits include: the strenghening and stretching of the lower body; toning "core" muscles of the abdominals; lenghening of the back muscles, and overall strenghening of the upper body.
Minimal dancewear or gear needed: fairly loose and comfortable clothing and a yoga mat are all that is required.

Tap: Students enhance their sense of rhythm and coordination by learning a series of regulated and controlled rhythmical movements of the feet.
