Pointe: An extended and highly technical form of ballet for female dancers taught solely upon the recommendation of the pointe instructor.
Contemporary/Modern: Contemporary dance combines several styles of movements including ballet, concert jazz, ethnic and modern dance methods. The movement combinations focus more on the choreographic flow and pattern rather than adhering to one particular style. Students are guided through an extensive warm-up based on the foundations of ballet technique and modern methods and then are given several across the floor exercises to explore the freedom of movement in various dance styles. Focus points include the "contract and release" of the torso, the use of the whole body in movement, musicality and the exploration of movement.
Requirements: Two years of ballet training and a previous or current jazz class.
Ballet/Tap: Introduces young dancers to the structure of a dance class and establishes the love of dance through different exercises and teaching mediums. Students learn basic ballet and tap steps that are integrated into the class as fun exercises. Students are having fun while learning basic ballet and tap terminology at the same time.
